CWRC Cambridge

Changes to CWRC’s Art Group

We know how important Art Group is to many women, so it has been a difficult decision to change how we run it. Unfortunately, we can no longer offer it as a drop-in session.

Over the past year, the number of women accessing CWRC has more than doubled, but our staffing and funding have not increased. Our small team is stretched across both group support and personal casework, and we simply don’t have the capacity to run open-ended sessions.

To keep Art Group going, we are introducing a booking system with limited spaces. Priority will be given to women attending Freedom sessions on Thursdays and those with significant support needs around mental health or other issues. However, we want to include as many women as possible, so sessions will run in blocks of 10, allowing more people to take part over time.

If you would like a place on Art Group, please use our referral form to let us know.

This decision has not been made lightly, and we understand it may be disappointing. We have explored every possible option to keep Art Group running within our current resources. While this solution isn’t perfect, it ensures we can continue offering the group in a way that is manageable for our team.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Our Cambridge Centre is located in Sturton Street, CB1 1SN. We offer group sessions, courses and individual support for a range of issues, including housing, education, finding work,  health and wellbeing and coping with life on a low income.  Our Thrive service supports women who have had involvement with the criminal justice system.

We also offer the Freedom Programme, for women who have been subjected to domestic abuse.
